High-Quality Annual Ryegrass for Winter Forage
Extend your grazing and harvest season with Jumbo™, a late-maturing tetraploid annual ryegrass developed at the University of Florida. Jumbo™ combines vigorous growth, high forage yields, excellent cold tolerance, and superior rust resistance to deliver dependable, high-quality forage across annual ryegrass-growing regions.

Superior Rust Resistance
Rust can reduce both forage yield and quality. Jumbo™ has demonstrated superior rust resistance across varied environments, helping maintain healthier leaves, stronger stands, and dependable forage performance throughout the season.

Late Maturity for Extended Production
As a late-maturing annual ryegrass, Jumbo™ remains vegetative longer and maintains forage quality later into the season. This extended growth period supports high yields and makes Jumbo™ especially well suited for mechanical harvesting, including silage production.

Vigorous Growth and High Yields
Jumbo™ has consistently performed well in forage trials throughout annual ryegrass-growing regions of the United States. Its vigorous growth habit and high yield potential help producers generate abundant winter and spring forage from available acres.

High-Sugar, High-Quality Forage
Tetraploid annual ryegrass is known for its broad leaves, palatability, and forage quality. Jumbo™ provides high sugar content and highly nutritious forage that supports strong intake and livestock performance in both beef and dairy operations.

Excellent Cold Tolerance
Jumbo™ combines winter hardiness with strong seasonal production. In high-rainfall areas along the Gulf Coast, it can provide forage from November through May, while farther north, its primary production typically occurs from late February through May.

Flexible for Grazing and Mechanical Harvest
Jumbo™ is well suited for both grazing and mechanical harvesting. Its high forage quality before maturity makes it an excellent choice for silage, while its vigorous growth and tolerance of grazing provide productive seasonal pasture for cattle.

For grazing operations, Jumbo™ can tolerate close or continuous grazing, although rotational grazing generally delivers the best yield results. It may also be planted with a small grain or forage turnip to increase winter forage availability and diversify seasonal production.

Excellent for Overseeding Warm-Season Pastures
Jumbo™ can be overseeded into dormant warm-season pastures to provide productive cool-season forage through winter and spring. Its rapid growth and winter hardiness help fill seasonal forage gaps when bermudagrass and other warm-season grasses are dormant.

Because Jumbo™ is late maturing, producers should account for its longer spring growth period when overseeding bermudagrass. Later maturity may delay warm-season pasture recovery if the ryegrass is allowed to remain too long.

Part of the PinPoint™ Forage System
Jumbo™ is part of Barenbrug's Pinpoint™ forage system, an integrated approach that combines perennial pastures, seasonal forage crops, legumes, and grazing management to help producers extend grazing, reduce feed costs, and fill predictable forage gaps throughout the year.

Within the Pinpoint™ system, Jumbo™ provides high-quality cool-season forage during the fall, winter, and spring, making it an excellent option for extending grazing and maintaining forage availability when warm-season pastures become dormant.
